The causes and manifestations of exclusion have different faces on
different continents and in different countries therefore the
strategies and measures adopted to combat it will also differ. More and
more actors are now involved in the fight against exclusion, with
individuals, social and economic organizations, public administrations
and international institutions all acting in different ways.
This document is an introduction to the concepts and strategies of social exclusion. It talks about the context and emergence of the concept and gives an overview of the terminology. It goes on to look more specifically about exclusion and poverty and its acceptance in European and international bodies.
